From the over 1.2 billion person market comprising of over 70 percent young people to having the world’s largest free trade zone with the highest Medium and Small Enterprises (MSEs), Africa is home to rich human and natural resources. However, unemployment, lack of access to funding for African MSEs, ‘white saviour’ complex, increasing trade tensions, COVID-19-related business challenges among other economic injustices are persistent issues facing Africa. On one hand are the opportunities; on the other, the challenges.
As the OYW Africa leadership team, we believe that for the world to be equal there has to be the liberation of black people everywhere. We need to come together and unite to birth a world free of racism and economic justices against black people. The #BlackUnity campaign is a platform where open, transparent and uncomfortable conversations can be held around racism and racial justice from every part of the world. Join us and watch the second episode focused on economic empowerment and entrepreneurship.
