We are excited to announce the publication of One Young World's 2021 Impact Report. This comprehensive overview of the year spotlights another incredible 12-months of social impact that was led by the 13,700 + outstanding young leaders who make up the truly global community and was catalysed by our varied agenda of programmes.
Emerging from the long months of the pandemic, 2021 was a groundbreaking year of social impact for our programmes and our Ambassadors. As the global community for young leaders, we aim to create a world where leaders with integrity are empowered to build a fair, sustainable future for all.
Within only 6-months of joining the Community, new Ambassadors from the Munich Summit were already following this path of action for the Global Goals agenda. The 2021 Report highlighted that in these early stages of their life in the Community, 97% of Ambassadors had increased drive to make a difference, and within only 6-months 65% had already created brand new social impact.
The latest report includes in-depth summaries of the programmes run by One Young World in 2021. This ranges from flagship programmes such as the 2021 Summit and Lead2030, to brand-new initiatives including a host of unique events at COP26, and the Pandemic Preparedness series of the OYW Academy.
Together, these programmes serve our purpose to develop young leaders who are taking action to solve the world's big challenges. Programmes are designed to inspire young leaders to increase their social impact, to build the capacity of young leaders to take effective actions, and to elevate the profile of young leaders locally and globally.
At the heart of every annual Impact Report, is the unrivalled social impact leadership of the Ambassadors. In 2021, this is no different, with the 70+ Ambassadors featured managing to directly impact 5.4 million people in pursuit of the Global Goals agenda. Within this sample of young leaders in the Community, the 39 projects quantitatively analysed generated impact at a social return of $16 for every $1 invested.
From 254,000 people receiving high-quality healthcare, to 292,000 people with access to clean water, the Community addressed the full spectrum of the SDGs. This is only a snapshot of the remarkable impact being created by the Community all around the world.
