One Young World is thrilled to announce the selected recipients for the Our Ocean 2022 Scholarship. The highly competitive Scholarship is providing 18 young leaders making an impact for our ocean with fully-funded places to participate in the upcoming Our Ocean Conference, taking place on 13 and 14 April.
The Republic of Palau will host the seventh Our Ocean Conference, marking the first time that this forum will be hosted by a small island developing state. The Conference Secretariat is curating a bespoke agenda for the Scholar delegation to engage with Palau’s extensive conservation efforts, and deepen their connections with each other.
The theme of this year's conference is "Our Ocean, Our People, Our Prosperity," which will draw on Palau's rich tradition as an ocean society and focus on islander perspectives and approaches to ensuring the health of our ocean. It will mark a key moment for countries, civil society, industry, and youth to commit to concrete and significant actions to protect the ocean.
Each of the selected scholars is making a positive impact in at least one of the following action areas:
-
Advancing Marine Protected Areas for Communities, Ecosystems & Climate
-
Tackling Marine Pollution
-
Confronting the Ocean-Climate Crisis
-
Creating Sustainable Blue Economies
-
Advancing Sustainable Fisheries
-
Achieving a Safe & Secure Ocean
Congratulations to the selected recipients!
